Shard-Wide PVP Tourney run by the PLAYERS

I was talking to Nieves of UOPG today about the upcoming Tournament of Champions and the rule excluding reds. We were discussing a lot of the posts we'd seen in reply to reds complaining about this rule that basically said "Why don't you guys quit whining and put on your own tourney?".

Adam Ant's Quest #VII – Red October

Hail dark friends,
It is time to once again to move a portion of the GUL fortune into one of our many secret caches.
We will be moving 2,000,000 pieces of gold to the cache at Homer’s Head for safe keeping. The codename for this operation will be "Red October".
I have commissioned Captain Anthias and his 1st mate Zoya, to transfer this small bit of wealth to the N.W. cache.
I am calling all Guardians and Initiates alike to protect The Captain as he makes this perilous journey. We have every reason to believe that Lord British will have ships of his own in this area and will open fire on us without provocation.
I have included a map which shows the strategic placement of our armada.
The Captain and Zoya will navigate this placement from north to south until they reach the N.W. cache. The southern placement is required should The Captain fall under fire. Under such circumstances, I have instructed the Captain to retreat into the womb of the southern placement. This southern contingent will be well equipped and versed in the ways of sea battle and will be charged with insuring the Captain and his cargo reach the N.W. cache safely.
Once The Captain drops the gold at the N.W. cache, Jade and I will see that it is delivered safely to the vault.
Guardians, please visit your War Rooms frequently over the next few days for further briefings.

Update to OSI Tourney Rules

- Use of any magic items will be disallowed. This includes weapons, armor, clothing, and items. (with the exclusion of potions.) This includes glacial staffs, blessed charged items, firehorns, etc.
- Oceania has been added to the list. Oceaniatournament@uo.com should be emailed.
- If you leave the arena area, you will be disqualified.
- A limit of 12 total potions can be used during the entire fight.
- No pre-fight buffing will be permitted. All buffing must be done once the fight begins.
- Reds will not be permitted to participate due to the city limits. All servers have nearly 2 weeks to work off any mudercounts.

They finally have an OSI-sanctioned tournament for pvp, and then exclude a large part of the pvp community (reds).

OSI-Sponsored pvp tourney

Origin Systems is hosting an officially sanctioned player-versus-player (PvP) event: the Tournament of Champions!
The tournament will be a series of 2-on-2 “fight-night” style events with sixty-four teams from each of the 14 participating shards battling it out for the honor of becoming the shard champions! And that’s not all—the 14 winning teams will advance to a final battle on Test Center, where the winners will be crowned the best duelists in UO!

..your bitterness is showing.
Apparently being hosted by someone that OSI doesn't like makes you ineligible for their Fansite Links Program.
The Links Program is a sort of recognition that OSI gives to fansites by linking your site on uo.com and offering you newsletters and graphics that you can put on your site.
It's not something I've ever worried about, but some people do and work hard to get into the program.
However one such site that applied was rejected because UOPG is their host...

Gold Farming 101

OSI, in their infinite wisdom, has apparently decided that what this game really needs is more gold flowing into the system.
I did a little experimenting with gold farming, using the new bags of sending today....
