The previous method works, but mind blast and mana vampire both use 4 regs. The best and cheapest way to gain mage & resist is to use lightning / ebolt / FS. Paralyze is terrible because it stops you from casting way too long. It IS the cheapest

Each individual piece will reduce damage taken individually. Every blow you take hits you in a random location. Tunics take the biggest% of hits and have the most AR, hence they are the most important piece. While a shot to the neck is pretty rare,
