Date Posted 02-21-2007 11:15 AM The following items have either been fixed or enhanced.- Cotton Plants
- Cotton plants may no longer be gathered from a distance. - Tower Doors
- Fixed a issue, where some tower doors were not flipping correctly with the interior decorator tool. - Champion Spawns - Internal
- Champion spawn engine now checks in serialization for the event of a manual alter or platform deletion, and handles the event correctly. - Internal tool to log all items that were using old champion spawn namespace. - Poison Logging - Internal
- Removed the Wald-Wolfowitz logger and analysis from poison spell use. Compiled data has shown that, poison is working correctly.
The Wald-Wolfowitz Runs Test is a test for randomness. It works by examining a series of true-false values and counting the number of runs, or "streaks", that occur. A smaller count indicates that the runs are longer - for example, 00000111111 has two runs, while 0101010101 has ten runs. The test divides the actual number of runs in the sequence by the expected number of runs, given a normal distribution. The quotient is a z-value, which can be translated into a probability that the sequence was not sampled from a normal distribution. The last z-score returned by the test (covering November to February) was -0.2, meaning that there was effectively no difference between the samples tested and a hypothetically perfect random distribution.

The following items have either been fixed or enhanced.- Wisps
Some old-school changes, more to come. Sorry, no details. - Tourneystone fixes
- Fixed rule validation to correctly validate item sub classes (potions) - Fixed multiple message alert - architectural cleanup - Kin Spawners coming on during event
Fix a respawn timer issue. The kin spawners are not supposed to respawn during the ransom events, but some were doing so anyway. Note: Kin spawners will now correctly suspend respawn of 'defending' kin to make the event more about player PvP. - Guild Restoration Deeds - internal
- Guild Restoration deeds now correctly recognize a 'disbanded' guild as a valid case. - disbanded guilds are now logged.

The following items have either been fixed or enhanced.- Speed Hack monitor - internal
Add robustness checks - Treasure hunter NPC - internal
Add logging to record when these overland mobs are abandoned. - [password command feedback
Add additional feedback if the wrong parameters are passed in. - Cell doors
You can now buy Cell doors from the Architect NPC and add them to your house like any of the other door addons. (they look sweet.) You need the Interior Decorator tool to turn them the way you want them. Rekeying a house works on the door addons. - Player Vendors - internal
Add logic to determine why some vendors will overcharge. (It's rare.) - Daylight Savings Time bug - internal
I set the game server (not the web server) to NOT correct for daylight savings time (DST). The game server will now remain in Pacific Standard Time (PST) year round.
Rational: Automatically adjusting for DST was causing havoc with the various game timers for all the obvious reasons. Adopting a generic solution like GMT had the major drawback of a onetime acceleration of 8 hours across the board. This acceleration of time could easily cause houses to decay without warning, pets to unbond, murder counts to poof, etc.
The decision to remain in year round PST will have little if any effect on the players, and only a minor effect on the shard administrator where things like timed tasks (backups and restarts) are concerned.
Technical Detail The Pacific Time Zone observes standard time by subtracting eight hours from Coordinated Universal Time (UTC-8). The clock time in this zone is based on the mean solar time of the 120th degree meridian west of the Greenwich Observatory. During Daylight Saving Time, its time offset is UTC-7. Coordinated Universal Time is also called Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
In the United States and Canada, this time zone is generically called Pacific Time (PT). Specifically, it is Pacific Standard Time (PST) when observing standard time (Winter), and Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) when observing daylight savings (Summer). - Tourney stone crashing fix
Fixed. - AES System – Ransom Quest
(Based on player requests) We've randomized the time when the chest becomes pickable; we also suppress the related broadcast message. This should make it much more of a challenge to hold the stronghold. This change will also prevent party crashers from running in at the last minute to snarf up the loot. PS. Another recent fix to this system was to make it so that once the defending Kin are killed, they will not respawn until the event is over. These two most recent changes should make the Ransom Quest a much more interesting event.

The following items have either been fixed or enhanced.- Fire Temple Outer Walls and Line Of Sight
You can no longer teleport through the Fire Temple Outer Walls. - Help Stuck
- If dead anywhere:
A: teleport to random location (see note 1) B: auto-move (see note 2) C: cancel - If alive and in dungeon:
A: kill and teleport to random location B: auto-move C: cancel - If alive and not in a dungeon and weight is 100 stones or less
A: teleport to a random location B: automove C: cancel - If alive and not in a dungeon and over 100 stones
A: do nothing (tells them to drop stuff to be transported) - effectively a cancel unless they drop stuff to 100 stones or less before they select this and hit ok B: automove C: cancel - notes:
1: chosen from 3 towns and 6 shrines 2: same movement logic as current implementation Pets: pets are moved with the player, EXCEPT if they have a pack animal that's not empty, in which case it cancels the teleport.
- Treasure Chests
Both Dungeon Treasure Chests and Treasure Map Chests now have a chance of being either poison or explosion. (The old chests were always explosion.)

The following items have either been fixed or enhanced.- Genies and Server Wars
Genies will now refuse to be summoned during Server Wars and will instead chose to sleep in the cozy confines of their lamp. - Replacing doors
Home owners may now chop their doors to bits and replace them with door addons which can be purchased from the Architect NPC. Note: You will need an interior decorator tool to 'turn' the doors (up to 8 times) to get it to face the right direction. - Hire Fighters
Revert and accidental check-in of source code that was causing hire fighters to respond incorrectly when command to "all kill" and the player would target self. Note on Genies and Server Wars:The philosophy here on Angel Island is that there is an acceptable ratio of griefer to grief potential (and the cost associated with that potential). When the ratio of griefer to grief potential exceeds a certain (albeit subjective) threshold, staff will take action to resolve the excess potential. The problem with Genies and Server Wars is that the infrequent use of genies (because of their intrinsic rarity) is totally negated by the fact that there are no server-saves; so the griefer gets to "put a halt" to server wars from this point forward without any difficulty or cost. Griefers are welcome to use genies at WBB during a town invasion to kill as many players as they wish because there will be server-saves and their ability to grief will be limited and will have a substantial cost. This is really the core issue and deciding factor: The enjoyment a griefer gets from ruining another players game-play must have a cost, and there is zero cost to a griefer during server wars. This issue is not up for debate, but explained here so that you may better understand the decision to disable genies during server wars.

The following items have either been fixed or enhanced.- Automated rebuild system - internal
Fix the Automated rebuild system. CVS was missing CVSROOT on the production server - the [time command
Our [time command now clearly reflects that the server is always in Pacific Standard Time (PST). Note: Today Pacific Time automatically switched over to Pacific Daylight Time (PDT), but the server remained in PST. This is normal operation. - Help Stuck
A couple updates to HS including a message to the player if no reasonable 'move to' location can be found. - Developer Notification emails - internal
Update the Developer notification system to use a distribution list as opposed to hard-coded email addresses. - Repair with no blacksmithing skill
Fix the Repairing of weapons and armor to require reasonable amounts of skill. Note: It is no longer wise to attempt to repair weapons and armor without seeking the skills of a well trained blacksmith. - Champ code cleanup – internal
Make some coding changes to cleanup some rather messy holdovers from the original champ system.
