The
Now that you have the basics of
fighting down, it's time to learn about basic equipment and where to get it.
It's also a good idea to stay fairly organized. The bank box can hold a total of
125 items, if they're all just thrown in their willy-nilly it gets extremely
cluttered.
Upon awakening it's generally a good idea to cruise by the bank and make sure you're ready for your next adventure.

In this case pick up a bit of gold so you can buy some containers to sort things better.
Just to the East of the West Britain Bank (WBB) is the provisioners. Hit CTRL-R to bring up the map if you need it.

A variety of equipment can be purchased at the provisioners, including various containers.
Find a provisioner and say "vendor buy."

Then sort through the list until you find some containers. Buy one or two of each.

The reason for multiple containers is simple, it gives variation and makes things easier to find.
Next, run south to the Tailor. This is the building directly south of the provisioner.

At the tailor one may purchase new clothing, cloth, sewing tools, and dyes.
In this case purchase a dye tub and some dyes.

These can be used to dye most clothing and some containers. Again this is handy for sorting.
To change the color of the dye tub, use the dyes on the tub.
This means, double click the dyes and target the tub with the cursor.
A window will pop up which you can pick colors in.
Once that is done, use the tub on one of the bags.

The bag will turn whatever color the tub is.
This will work on bags, backpacks, and all things made of cloth.
An organized bank box is a thing of beauty.

With all this buying, it's time to make a bit more cash.
UO has no such thing as credit, so if you spend gold you should try to replenish it.
Back at the skeletons....

A potential friend!

Well done!
When extra equipment is available and a companion lacks it's always nice to help them out.

Not much, but it could mean all the difference.
After some time of killing, a new thing is found in the graveyard.

Skeletal Knight indeed..
Before you try anything new it is ALWAYS a good idea to bank.
If you can't afford to lose it (and newbies usually can't) then don't carry it!!!!

Don't forget to share...

Get it newbie!!!

And this is how that battle went...
It started off strong, even with that regular skelton...

Things quickly turned ugly, Skeletal Knights hit hard!

And he bravely turned his tail and fled...

But he didn't make it far...

Relax, it's not the end of the world when this happens!
When the inevitable occurs, it is not permanent. You merely become a ghost until a healer can be found.

The world is in black and white for the most part.
Also, other players cannot understand what you're saying.
"crap..." = "oOooOooo" to another player.
Luckily, a healer is not far off.

Run down there, and then run back to get your equipment.
It's good to have a friend.

Now hurry!

Once you get to the healer all you have to do is run through the doors. As a ghost you can't open them.

Once you get ressed the healer may make some snide and baseless comment about your virtue... just ignore this and res.
Notice that upon your return to the living you still have certain items.

Any of your "newbie" items (the ones you started with) stay with you.
Also, you got a stylish grey robe which can be dyed later.
It appears that our friend Minister didn't quite get the equipment off our body, sometimes this happens.

It was a valiant effort and he deserves thanks for it!
In situations like this when things get to heated, it's often a good idea to lure everything down into the guardzone and call the guards on them.

The guards will slay them near instantly.
Note: The bodies don't stay, this isn't an easy method of getting loot.
With all that fighting it's time to take stock of your equipment...

uh oh!
At this point one could spend some of their hard earned gold on cloth or...

cotton can be picked.
The cotton can be made into cloth and then cut into bandages.
The cotton fields are a good distance away...

however, it is worth the trip.
Always a good idea...

Another good idea, that armor is really heavy.

while you're at it you might as well dye that fancy free robe. They're handy to wear over armour.

Great choice... kinda...
Again with the running...

Moongates are basically a method of traveling from one part of the continent to another.
Several permanent ones exist, typically near a large town.

It's a bit farther away this time, and it's out of guardzone.
A single click on the moongate will give a description about the location on the other side.

This is to Jhelom. One could wait for the moongates to cycle through, or just hop through until you find the right place.
This process can be a bit frustrating and sometimes you'll find you're just going in a circle. Just be patient, wait a couple of minutes, kill some animals in the area. After a few minutes the gates will cycle and a new set of destinations will be available.
When the map looks like this:

you're in Moonglow!
Cotton and Sheep can be found to the south.

Either can be used to make cloth.
Stopping by the sheep first.
Start killing them. Once they're dead you can harvest their wool.

Before the wool can be harvested, the sheep has to be cut up.
Double click the sword or dagger and then target the sheep.

Take both the wool and the meat. That can be used later.
When they're all dead move along to the cotton field.
Those little white balls on the ground are on cotton plants.

To harvest a bale of cotton, double click the white balls.

Gather up all that you can. If you wait a few minutes it will respawn.
Just keep gathering until neither of you can hold anymore.
Once that's all done, head back to Britain and the Tailor Shop.

Step 1 is to use the cotton and the wool on the spinning wheels.

This may take awhile, depending on how much you have.
Next use the yarn (from the wool) or the thread (from the cotton) on the loom.

5 of either will make one 50 yard roll of cloth.
Use the scissors (you got these free with the healing skill) to cut up the cloth two times.
If you don't have scissors some are on the floor, you can use them from there.

Depening on how much wool and cotton you gathered, a large number of bandages can result.
1 yard of cloth = 1 bandage.
Now that you've restocked it's time to bank and get ready for another adventure...

Until next time....
