How To Disarm Steal

Step 1: Find a “target rich environment.”

On most shards the Buccaneer’s Den moongate tends to be well occupied.

Step 2: Select a “mark”, preferably one with a weapon of great value.

Step 3: Use a newbie dagger or some “fast” skill (arms lore) to set the weapon to your “last target.”

Step 4: Ready yourself to disarm.

Step 5: Sit back and watch the mark, be patient and wait for the opportunity to present itself.

Step 6: Unfortunately sometimes people do tend to run around a bit. Don’t be afraid to follow them, be discrete.

The following steps can almost be considered one, they should happen in rapid succession.

Step 6a: When the opportunity arrives step onto a tile next to them (unlike in the picture) and attack.

Step 6b: The nano-second you attack your target you should hit your steal macro and put your finger over last target.

Step 6c: As soon as you see the weapon drop ON THEIR AVATAR hit your last target key. This “almost” ensures that they are standing next to you when it happens.

At this point TWO things can happen: 1) You miss the steal or disarm (step 7) or 2) you succeed (step9).

Unfortunately sometimes you miss, as is the case here.

Step 7: In the event of a miss be prepared to run…

Step 8: After relieving yourself of the gank squad try and isolate the mark and repeat steps 6 & 7

Note: You do have GM hiding right? If you don’t go get a res and start over.

Step 9: If all goes well it should look something like this.

Step 10: If the weapon is expensive it is recommended that you elude the mark so you can safely bank it. Take statements like the above example as a compliment.

Step 11: After banking the loot make a note in your newbie journal of the steal.
